Recently I appeared as a live guest on BBC World News America to address the international debate between the makers of the Blackberry (Canadian-based RIM) and several countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Indonesia and others, which has heated up. The countries claim to need access to RIM’s servers for national security reasons while RIM says it wants to protect its customers’ privacy. But do these countries simply want to spy on residents? And should RIM be forced to share certain information in the name of combating terrorism? What does this all mean for domestic travelers? Stay tuned.
